Lichang Zhang is a professional percussionist based in The Tri-State Area. A recent graduate of New Jersey City University, she holds a master’s degree in percussion performance, as well as a bachelor’s degree in percussion performance from the prestigious Xinghai Conservatory of Music in Guangzhou, China. She currently resides in Jersey City, and performs throughout The Tri-State Area as a freelance musician in symphony orchestras, wind ensembles, operatic orchestras, sacred music ensembles, percussion ensembles, jazz bands, as well as in the latin and musical theatre genres. In addition, she specializes in performing and teaching Chinese classical percussion instruments, including as a soloist and in Chinese traditional folk music ensembles. Recent performances include appearances with The Amore Opera Company, Bergen Symphony Orchestra, Garden State Opera, Exit 82 Theatre Company, and more. In addition, she specializes in performing and teaching Chinese classical percussion instruments. In addition to her active performance career, Lichang also has her own private studio, where she teaches drum set, marimba, snare drum, timpani, and classical Chinese percussion instruments to students of all ages and levels of experience. Lichang also works frequently as percussion sectional coach for orchestras, wind ensembles, and marching band. Lichang offers lessons in both English and Mandarin.
